Orchestras 1st Period-Philharmonic and Honors Orchestras (Level VI String and Full Orchestra)

Prerequisites: All of the Symphonic Orchestra requirements, director's approval, audition, and a possible written test. The Philharmonic Orchestra is the premiere string orchestra at BHS and it combines with members of the BHS Symphonic Winds to form the Honors Orchestra. This group consists mainly of seniors and membership is extremely selective. Students not taking private lessons will be required to turn in weekly practice reports and complete alternate projects assigned by the director. Regular practice is expected.
2nd Period-Symphmonic Orchestra (Level V String and Full Orchestra)

Prerequisites: All of Concert Orchestra requirements, audition, and director's approval. This is a more advanced group, comprised mainly of juniors and advanced underclassmen. Students are expected to practice regularly and private lessons are strongly recommended.
 
3nd Period-Concert Orchestra (Level IV String Orchestra)

Prerequisites: All of the Maroon and Gold Orchestra requirements, audition, and director's approval. This group is comprised of mainly sophomores and advanced freshman.

5th and 6th Periods-Maroon and Gold Orchestras (Level III/IV String Orchestras)


Prerequisites: Completed the equivalent of three years of middle school orchestra instruction and meet the requirements designated in the BHS Orchestra Handbook. These two classes consist of primarily underclassmen and no audition is required.
